Setting Up Brakes on PowerTrack 360

The following steps show how the brake system on a Powertrack 360 can be set up properly to eliminate or prevent the brake disc rubbing or rattling.

STEP 1: Release Brake Cable

First unfold the pram and rest it on its back wheels and handle, with the front wheel in the air for easier access to the brake components.

Before starting work clean the brake disc with a dry cloth and light detergent to remove any residue as this can sometimes result in the disc sticking or “clicking”

Next, using an allen key, turn the nut holding the brake cable anti-clockwise to release the cable as shown to the right.

STEP 2: Adjust Inside Brake Pad

Now adjust the inside brake pad by turning the small 10p sized disc.

This can be done using the same allen key as before, insert it through the spokes of the wheel as shown to the left.

Turning the allen key clockwise moves the brake pad towards the brake disc.

Turning the allen key anti-clockwise moves the brake pad away from the brake disc.

STEP 3: Check Position of Pads and Disc

The aim is to move the inside brake pad in as close to the brake disc as possible while still allowing the wheel to turn freely.

Looking directly along the brake disc as shown here you can see clearly how close the inside brake pad (right side in the picture) is to the brake disc.

Repeat STEP 2 and STEP 3 until the brake pad is as close as possible to the brake disc without any rubbing or grating occurring when the wheel is spun by hand.

STEP 4: Adjust Outside Brake Pad

Holding the brake mechanism as shown to the left, with your left thumb on the silver arm and first two fingers on the black arm, gently squeeze the two together. This moves the outside disc and is the movement which happens when the brake is applied.

Squeezing the mechanism moves the brake pad towards the disc.

As with STEP 2 the aim here is to move the pad as close to the brake disc as possible without the wheel rubbing as it spins.

Spin the wheel with your right hand while still squeezing find a point where the disc JUST STOPS rubbing on the brake pad.

STEP 5: Reconnect Brake Cable and Fine Tuning

While the outside brake pad is in the correct position use the allen key to re-connect the brake cable.

Make sure to connect the cable on the pram side of the nut.

Final small adjustments can be made by turning the small red cog on the top of the brake.

Turning this cog moves the whole brake assembly (not the brake disc) left or right a very small amount.

Turning the cog clockwise moves the whole brake assembly right relative to the brake disc (as seen in STEP 3) and anti-clockwise moves it left. Try to position the brake disc right in the centre by turning the cog as required. N.B. If the cog is adjusted too much in one direction this can sometimes lead to the rivets on the brake disc catching and making a distinctive clicking sound.

Your Jane Powertrack 360 is now ready to go.
